Marshals Use Late Score to Top Tailgators, 2-1

Chesapeake pitcher Joel Edmondson gave the Marshals all they could handle, but in the end, Baxter Springs left Tailgators Ballpark with a win, 2-1. Edmondson allowed 1 run on 5 hits over 6.1 innings. Ricardo Quiroz claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. His record stands at 3-0. The Marshals win now puts them at 31-33.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Aaron Rakers? The 22-year old right fielder Rakers stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to put Baxter Springs up, 2-1. For the game, he was 3 for 5, including 1 double and 2 singles.
In comments to the Baxter Springs Gazette, Rakers admitted he's been told to improve his work habits. "But," he said, "I know when to take it to another gear."
