The Chesapeake Tailgators and Nashville Lasers obliged fans hoping for an exciting game.

Nashville designated hitter Mike Thompson had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Thompson was 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once, even as Chesapeake beat the Lasers, 8-7. The Tailgators saw their win-loss record go to 27-36. At the same time, the Lasers fell to 34-29.

Chesapeake took the lead, 8-7, on Jimmy Bauer's 6th home run of the season. The 2-run home run came off Nashville pitcher Tom Herzing in the bottom of the seventh.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Bauer. "And not try to do too much."
