The El Paso Chupacabras converted a terrific effort from starter Jesus Fernandez into a win over the Montreal Royals at Chupacabras Stadium. The Chupacabras won the game by a final score of 4-1. Picking up the save was 25-year old right-handed pitcher Scott Hargraves. The Royals, now 5-12, continue their poor start.

Mike Townsend had a big run-scoring double for the Chupacabras in the bottom of the sixth inning. With El Paso leading 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he got a splitter from 24-year old right-handed pitcher Mark Stuart and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 4th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Chupacabras ahead, 2-0.

"I found a nice groove out there," said Fernandez.
