Hartford first baseman Chris Flowers picked up 3 ribbies while helping his team beat back the Montreal Royals, 8-7. Hartford pitcher Fernando Garcia got the win, upping his record to 2-1. Jay Waltman got the loss. Ken Yates stitched up the save, his 2nd.

With a runner on 2nd and two out in the bottom of the seventh inning, designated hitter Tony Perez delivered big for the Matadors. Hartford was trailing 7-5 when he belted a 2-run home run.

Flowers told the Hartford Citizen: "Win or lose, I don't want to see our team outhustled."
