The Montreal Canadiens got a sterling performance from first baseman Jim Wilkes, but the Montreal Royals still prevailed, 4-2. Wilkes went 1-2 with a home run, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. Frank Cora locked down his 1st save. The loss makes Montreal 2-1.

Montreal right fielder Cody Yeager contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the third. With two down, he hit a fastball to center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 1st hit of the season and put the Royals ahead, 3-2.

Yeager attributed the win to his team's "focus and intensity."
