The Montreal Royals inaugurated their 2026 season with a tough 4-3 loss to the Montreal Canadiens at Turtles Ballpark. Left Fielder Justin Kelley had perhaps the best performance for Montreal. Chris Hall picked up the win with 6.1 innings of work. He allowed 3 runs on 5 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 6. On the season, he is now 1-0. Ryan Louviere closed out the game, earning his 1st save.

Montreal took a 3-2 lead on Kelley's 2nd home run of the season. The solo home run, which he hit off Mark Stuart in the top of the seventh, propelled Montreal to the win.

"You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said Montreal manager Bobby White.
