Sweet 16 Goes the Distance, Kansas State Prevails Monday, May 11th , 2026 A classic and dramatic Sweet 16 has wrapped up, with the Kansas State Wildcats outlasting the LSU Tigers to advance to the Elite 8. Kansas State won the final game by a score of 8-0 and took the series 2-1. "We can enjoy this one tonight, but then it's back to work and thinking about the next win," said Kansas State right fielder Mike Simko, whose standout performance earned him the nod as series MVP. Simko hit .500 with a .538 on-base percentage. He had 2 home runs, drove in 3 RBI and scored 3 runs. The Kansas State Wildcats will play against the West Virginia Mountaineers in the next round. West Virginia won their series against the Kansas Jayhawks 2 games to 0. The Elite 8 schedule will be announced after the Sweet 16 finishes. |
