Four-bagger Feast: DeYoung Slugs 3 for Miami Monday, March 17th , 2025 It was a day for the record books for Miami Hurricanes shortstop Lance DeYoung, who walloped three out of Duane Banks Field against the Hawkeyes. However, not even a three-homer game could prevent the Hawkeyes from getting the 6-5 victory. "We threw some good pitches and they hit 'em, and we made some bad pitches and they hit 'em. That's a good strategy for losing ballgames," Miami skipper Josh Roberson joked after the loss. DeYoung still had a few opportunities to celebrate along the way. He was 3-for-4 for the day, batting in 3 runs and scoring 3 times. "I never, ever thought I would hit three home runs," DeYoung said. "I hit three home runs once when I was 12 in Little League and I thought that was going to be the last time." Lance DeYoung hit a solo-shot off Jacob Musgrave in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Jacob Musgrave in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Byron Riddle in the 7th and flied out in the 9th. This year, DeYoung is hitting .308 with 8 hits, 4 home runs, 4 RBIs and has scored 7 runs. |
