Michigan Takes Elite 8
Tuesday, May 14th , 2024
The fans in Michigan are delirious, while there is little joy to be found in California.
The Michigan Wolverines finished off the California Golden Bears 3-2 in the deciding game of the Elite 8 played at Stu Gordon Stadium.
They took the series 2-1 and will now head to the Final 4.
For his standout play, Michigan third baseman Adam Wright was voted the series' Most Valuable Player.
He batted .417, drove in 2 runs and scored 2 to lead his club to victory.
"We could never really figure out how to pitch to Wright and that doomed us," said Golden Bears manager Tom Thomas. "Hats off to Michigan, though. That was a great series."
The Michigan Wolverines don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Michigan State Spartans - Purdue Boilermakers series. That series is tied at 1 game each. The Final 4 schedule will be announced after the Elite 8 finishes.
