Purdue Wins Sweet 16 Thursday, May 9th , 2024 The Indiana Hoosiers were simply overmatched by the Purdue Boilermakers in the Sweet 16. The end result was a sweep, as Purdue has cruised to the Elite 8, with the final win coming at Alexander Field by a score of 2-1. "We're clicking and running on all cylinders at the moment," said John Hearne, who was named MVP of the Sweet 16. "We're a dangerous team when we play like this." For the series, Hearne hit .500 with a .556 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, drove in 3 RBI and scored 1 runs. The Purdue Boilermakers don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish - Michigan State Spartans series. Michigan State leads the series 1 game to 0.
