SL1 Presents Outstanding Pitcher Award Wednesday, June 9th , 2021 When the name of Bobby Purdy appeared on the Michigan State lineup card in 2021, it was a virtual guarantee of a victory or at least a well-pitched game. For his brilliant performance this season he was named the Conference 1 Pitcher of the Year Award winner today. He started 12 games, running up a 4-0 record and a 0.75 ERA. Purdy held opponents to a .189 average while striking out 48, walking 16 and allowing 39 hits in 60.1 innings of work. He received 50 first place votes out of a possible 56. Brandon Jones of the Clemson Tigers finished second in voting with 6 first place votes, while Bryan Hallberg of the Iowa Hawkeyes finished third.
