Wildcats Heading to Elite 8 Sunday, May 12th , 2019 It went the distance, but the Northwestern Wildcats finally disposed of the California Golden bears 5-2 in the series clincher at Rocky and Berenice Miller Park. Winning the finale gave the Wildcats the series, 2-1. They will now advance to the Elite 8. The Most Valuable Player Award went to Northwestern first baseman Rich Kotlar. He batted .500 in the series, collecting 2 RBIs and scoring 4 runs. "Rich deserves it," said Wildcats manager Tommy Nevins. "He was the glue that held our club together." The Northwestern Wildcats don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the UCLA Bruins - Oregon Ducks series. That series is tied at 1 game each. The Elite 8 schedule will be announced after the Sweet 16 finishes. |
