Fremont Snaps Williams Streak at 44
Monday, June 20th , 2022
Newark first baseman Phil Williams experienced something against the Fremont Ambassadors he hadn't experienced a while: a hitless game.
The Ambassadors pitching corps quieted his hot bat and snapped his streak at 44 games, but his teammates picked up the slack to lead the Flyers to a 6-4 victory at Ballpark of Fremont.
"Hey, ain't nothin' bad about a losing a 44-game hitting streak," Williams joked with reporters after the game. "Now you guys will have to find someone else to bother for stories."
This year, Williams has collected a .391 batting average to date with 84 hits in 215 at-bats, 62 RBIs, 22 home runs and scored 50 times. He has played in 57 games.
