Williams Extends Hit Streak to 40 Games
Friday, June 10th , 2022
Chalk up another one for Newark Flyers first baseman Phil Williams. He now has hit in 40 straight games. Williams went 1-for-3 in today's game at Capitals Ballpark but saw his club defeated, 4-3, by the host Tampa Capitals.
"Playing on the road always makes it harder to get hits and to get wins," Flyers manager Carlos Almendarez said after the game. "We got one of the two, but unfortunately it was the wrong one." Phil Williams hit a two-run home run off Rick Cortez in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, grounded out in the 5th and walked in the 8th.
Williams on the season is batting .398 with 22 home runs. His totals include 59 RBIs and 47 runs scored. He has played in 52 games.
