Williams Runs Hit String to 39 Straight Games Thursday, June 9th , 2022 The streak is alive and well -- at least for today. Phil Williams did it again, bashing 1 hit in the contest at Capitals Ballpark. For the last 39 games in a row, the 22-year-old first baseman has collected at least one hit. His efforts helped the Newark Flyers beat the Tampa Capitals, 7-2. "I'm happy I kept the streak going," Williams told a standing-room-only crowd of reporters gathered in the Newark clubhouse. "Honestly though, I'm looking forward to going home and not thinking about this for the rest of the day." Phil Williams struck out in the 1st, struck out in the 4th, walked in the 6th, struck out in the 7th and hit a three-run home run off Luke Lodge in the 9th. Thus far in 2022, Williams is hitting .399 with 21 home runs, 57 RBIs, 46 runs scored and has compiled a .464 OBP. |
