Williams Hit Streak Soars to 36 Games

The Newark Flyers stopped the Huntsville Rockets, 5-1, and Phil Williams collected a base hit yet again. The Newark first baseman finished with 1 hit to run his consecutive-game hitting streak to 36.
"I want to get a hit every time up," a visibly excited Williams told reporters after the contest. "I want to get a hit every game I play. Right now, I feel like I could take this streak to 100 games." Phil Williams hit an RBI single in the 1st, walked in the 2nd, flied out in the 4th and grounded out in the 7th.
This season, Williams is hitting at a .403 pace with 20 home runs, 54 RBIs and has scored 43 times.
