Springs Slaps 5 Hits Thursday, May 19th , 2022 Even as a kid, Nate Springs said his coaches told him the key to hitting was making contact, and letting everything else flow from there. At Miners Memorial Bowl, Springs showed how well he learned that lesson. The 23-year-old second baseman had 5 hits in 6 at-bats for the Glace Bay Miners, helping his team knock off the Fremont Ambassadors by a score of 11-8. "They always said, just keep your eye on the ball, don't overswing, make contact and you never know what will happen," he said. "That's all I did." Nate Springs singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, doubled in the 6th, singled in the 8th, doubled in the 9th and grounded out in the 11th.
