Red-Hot McKeown Scorches Comets
Monday, May 4th , 2020
Bobby McKeown was at the head of a Columbus hit parade today at Wizards Stadium. The first baseman went to the plate 5 times and came away with 5 hits, sparking the Bowsers to a 12-7 victory over the Kalamazoo Comets.
"I told the guys in the dugout, just be thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere," the sweet-swinging McKeown told reporters after the game. "Seems like it worked out well for us today."
Comets skipper Malcolm Griffin said later that the club gave up "too much plate."
"Not the way we planned it," he said. "Every hitter in the league will rip you when you do that."
Bobby McKeown walked in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Danny Arroyo in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off Juan Rivero in the 8th and hit a GRAND SLAM off Jim Unknown in the 9th.
McKeown currently has a .615 batting average with 8 hits, 3 homers, 8 RBIs, 4 runs scored and a .688 OBP.
