Westerman Gets Award for Relief Work Monday, October 16th , 2023 He may only be 24, but Matt Westerman of the Santa Rosa Desperados has already established himself as one of the elite relievers in the Northern A. The reliever was today named the N-A Reliever of the Year Award winner for 2023. He won the award with a strong year that saw him put up 21 saves in 62 relief appearances and 103 strikeouts in 100 innings. He had a record of 4-3 to go with his 2.79 ERA. He received 12 first place votes out of a possible 24. Jim Handshoe of the Glace Bay Miners finished second in voting with 9 first place votes, while Keith Kramer of the Grand Rapids Jet Hawks finished third with 3 first place votes.
