Hit Streak Now at 20 for Melo Friday, August 22nd , 2025 The Mexico City Aztecs stopped the Kalamazoo Comets, 6-5, and Alex Melo collected a base hit yet again. The Mexico City shortstop finished with 1 hit to run his consecutive-game hitting streak to 20. "I want to get a hit every time up," a visibly excited Melo told reporters after the contest. "I want to get a hit every game I play. Right now, I feel like I could take this streak to 100 games." Alex Melo doubled in the 1st, walked in the 3rd, grounded out in the 4th, walked in the 7th and flied out in the 9th. This season, Melo has delivered 129 hits in 413 at-bats for a .312 average with 25 home runs. He is getting on base at a .380 clip and his totals also include 67 RBIs and 73 runs scored. This year Melo has played in 98 games. |
