Aztecs Sims Lost for Year
Friday, July 26th , 2024
The doctors have spoken and John Sims of the Mexico City Aztecs didn't like what he heard. The 25-year-old reliever is almost certainly gone for the rest of the year and depending on his progress could miss some of next season as well. Sims sustained his season-ending injury during the Atlanta Aggies game yesterday at Tony Gwynn Stadium. He had to leave the game because he hurt himself while throwing a pitch. Today the Mexico City medical staff reported Sims had a stretched elbow ligament and would be absent from the lineup for at least 9 months.

To date this year, he has registered 1 save, 4 wins and 1 loss with a 1.89 ERA. Sims has made 23 relief appearances, worked a total of 33.1 innings and surrendered 24 hits. He has fanned 28, issued 10 free passes and held opposing clubs to a .203 batting average.
