Glace Bay Stops Porter Hit Streak Sunday, July 21st , 2024 The streak has been snapped. Ben Porter failed to get a hit in today's game against the Glace Bay Miners, bringing his 22-game hitting spree to an end. The 23-year-old Grand Rapids right fielder was 0-for-1, but the Jet Hawks got the win and defeated the Miners, 3-2. "I'm not disappointed at all -- I had a great run," Porter said. "I got to 22 games. I got my name into an elite group with a bunch of good ballplayers. What's there to complain about?" This year, Porter has 14 home runs and a .387 batting average. |
