Flanders Rewarded with 2022 S-A Most Valuable Player Award

He may have less experience than most of his ABA Class-A League peers, but that didn't slow Matt Flanders down at all in 2022.
At the age of 23, the White Deer second baseman has been named the winner of the Southern A Most Valuable Player Award.
He had a .335 batting average and a .404 on-base percentage this year. In 124 games he piled up 158 hits, 38 doubles, 6 triples, 22 home runs, 80 RBIs and 92 runs scored.
"I'm blown away by the season I was able to put together," he said. "I'm looking forward to trying to do it all again next year."
He received 17 first place votes out of a possible 24. Pete Roan of the Bangor Lumberjacks finished second in voting with 6 first place votes, while Josh Alcorn of the Bangor Lumberjacks finished third.
