Saturday, October 15th , 2022
At the age of 23, Jon Messer says he still has a lot to learn about life in ABA Class-A League.
But he certainly seems to be a quick study, as the Barrie Admirals reliever was better than all others this year and has captured the 2022 Southern A Reliever of the Year Award.
"I hope to win this a few more times before all is said and done in my career," the Chicago, Illinois native said.
For the season, Messer had 14 saves in 74 relief appearances, which totaled 115. He fanned 117 betters, while walking 34 and put up a record of 7-6 to go with his 2.19 ERA.
He received 21 first place votes out of a possible 24. Sean Hill of the Dollywood Partons finished second in voting with 2 first place votes, while Danny Alvarez of the Louisville Sweepers finished third with 1 first place vote.
