Cannonballers 3B Davis Gets the Cycle Thursday, June 20th , 2024 Matt Davis roughed up Newark Flyers pitching in a big way at Newark Fields, leading the Cottage City to a win, 15-9. With his parents and family watching from the stands, the 20-year-old third baseman put on a magnificent show, hitting for the cycle -- collecting a single, double, triple and home run in the same game. "It was a good day for that to happen," a beaming Davis said after the game. "I really got some good looks and delivered. Sometimes you're just on." He finished his historic day with 4 hits in 5 at-bats, 5 runs batted in and 4 runs scored. Matt Davis hit an RBI double in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, hit a three-run home run off Aaron Wakefield in the 3rd, flied out in the 5th, hit an RBI triple in the 7th and walked in the 9th.
