Great Day for Nevarez -- 5 Hits
Monday, July 14th , 2025
After a 5-hit effort to lead Barrie's 22-6 victory over the Long Beach Keys, second baseman David Nevarez told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day."

"It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the ABA Class A-level is really something special."

The 23-year-old player earned his accolades at Stadia de Leones with a spectacular 5-for-6 game against the Keys.

"His swing is getting there," said Admirals skipper Manny Uset, who spoke glowingly of Nevarez after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. David did that to perfection."

David Nevarez hit an RBI single in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, hit an RBI double in the 4th, grounded out in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th and singled in the 7th.

This year, Nevarez has collected a .260 batting average to date with 59 hits in 227 at-bats, 33 RBIs, 10 home runs and scored 37 times. He has played in 56 games.
