Cannonballers Marquez Lost for Year
Monday, August 29th , 2022
The doctors have spoken and Felix Marquez of the Cottage City Cannonballers didn't like what he heard. The 21-year-old reliever is almost certainly gone for the rest of the year and depending on his progress could miss some of next season as well. Marquez sustained his season-ending injury during the St. Catharines Blue Jays game yesterday at Engineers Ballpark. He had to leave the game because he hurt himself while throwing a pitch. Today the Cottage City medical staff reported Marquez had shoulder inflammation and would be absent from the lineup for at least 5 months.
This season, Marquez has chalked up a 6.60 ERA while ringing up 2 saves with 3 wins and 14 losses. He has made 31 relief appearances, pitching 133.2 innings, giving up 183 hits, and holding opponents to a .320 batting average. Marquez has also recorded 132 strikeouts and allowed 56 walks.
