Martinez Joins 3-HR Club Monday, August 8th , 2022 The old superstition that "bad news comes in threes" certainly came true for the Deltaville Deltas. Huntsville center fielder Ricky Martinez tripled up on the home runs to propel the Rockets to a win, 12-4, at Rogers Centre. "We had our chances to win the game, but we just didn't come through," Deltaville manager Tony Sarmiento said. "Martinez hit the heck out of the ball." In addition to the homers, Martinez collected 3 hits in 5 at-bats, 6 RBIs and scored 3 runs. "Easy swings get you home runs," he said after the game. "I kept telling myself not to press. They have to be nice and easy swings." Ricky Martinez grounded out in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off Kosuke Sakai in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Kosuke Sakai in the 6th, flied out in the 7th and hit a three-run home run off Jim Unknown in the 8th. On the year, Martinez is hitting .268 with 79 hits, 20 home runs, 51 RBIs, .306 OBP and has scored 45 runs. |
