Vicari Put in Cooler, Hitless Against Grand Rapids
Tuesday, June 9th , 2026
It was a doubly miserable day for Neil Vicari of the Glace Bay Miners, as he saw his 31-game hitting streak end and his team lose, 3-2, to the Grand Rapids Jet Hawks at Jet Hawks Ballpark. The 24-year-old catcher was held hitless in 4 at-bats by the Jet Hawks.
"Anyone on a 31-game hitting streak is going to be a tough out," Grand Rapids manager Sadayuki Nishikawa said later. "But we had a plan and we were careful about it, and got it done."
This season, Vicari is swinging the bat at a .302 pace. He has hit 5 home runs and scored 35 times, while driving in 31. His on-base percentage is .355 and he has played in 46 games.
