Kelly Has Hot Hand, Bangs 5 hits Sunday, July 31st , 2022 The Cottage City Cannonballers stopped the Deltaville Deltas by a score of 20-11 at Cannonballers Ballpark, with the lion's share of the credit going to left fielder Sam Kelly. The 24-year-old had a career day, collecting 5 hits. "Every batter wants to have a quality at-bat every time he steps up to the plate," Kelly said later. "He wants to hit the ball hard." Kelly did just that in his 6 at-bats, much to the chagrin of the Deltas. "Not much that I can say," offered Deltaville manager Tony Sarmiento. "He just hammered the heck out of us." Sam Kelly hit a solo-shot off Jim Unknown in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, struck out in the 4th, hit a GRAND SLAM off Jim Unknown in the 5th, singled in the 6th and hit a GRAND SLAM off Jim Unknown in the 7th.
