Mercado Fashions Shutout Against Lake Elsinore Sunday, May 5th , 2024 Goose eggs were the order of the day for the Lake Elsinore Storm as starter Mel Mercado shut them out, 14-0, at Tony Gwynn Stadium. The Mexico City pitcher struck out 5 and walked 3 while allowing 6 hits. "Mercado was good but he wasn't flawless," Lake Elsinore manager Bobby Vargas said. "We had a few opportunities to make something happen and we didn't do it. Not to take anything away from Mexico City, but this is on us."
