LaGesse Is Pitcher of Perfection
Friday, June 11th , 2021
With the final, flawless out recorded, the Dollywood Partons piled onto Brent LaGesse at the center of the Dolly Parton Ballpark diamond. LaGesse joined baseball's most hallowed club, completing a perfect game against the Bangor Lumberjacks.
The 23-year-old right-hander kept the Bangor offense guessing all day long and with some help from the defenders behind him, etched his name into the record books with the 4-0 shutout.
"His breaking pitches had more movement than I've ever seen from Brent," Dollywood manager Adam Freeman said in the postgame interview. "He made everyone's job easy today. He just saw a target and he hit it. Simple as that."
For the game, LaGesse retired all 27 batters he faced and fanned 11 of them. He walked none and nobody got on base.
LaGesse has gone 7-0 this season with an ERA of 3.61 and 56 strikeouts in 52.1 innings pitched. Other clubs are hitting .153 against him.
