Cottage City Snaps Avila Streak at 20 Sunday, April 27th , 2025 It just wasn't Jorge Avila's day. The Tampa Capitals grabbed the 4-3 win over the Cottage City Cannonballers, but the Cannonballers mound staff did what nobody else could -- they stopped the 20-game hitting streak of Capitals center fielder Jorge Avila. "We might have focused a bit too much on stopping Avila," Cottage City manager commented afterward. "He had a nice hitting streak going, but the Capitals have other hitters and they did their job today." Hitting .468 to date, Avila has 2 home runs and 5 RBIs. He has played in 17 games. |
