Injury Sidelines Jon Ortega for Season
Tuesday, June 1st , 2021
The doctors have spoken and Jon Ortega of the Tampa Capitals didn't like what he heard. The 24-year-old starting pitcher is almost certainly gone for the rest of the year and depending on his progress could miss some of next season as well. Ortega sustained his season-ending injury during the San Antonio Stallions game yesterday at Capitals Ballpark. He had to leave the game because he hurt himself while throwing a pitch. Today the Tampa medical staff reported Ortega had a torn rotator cuff and would be absent from the lineup for at least 13 months.
To date this year, Ortega shows a 1-2 record, 0 starts, 18 innings, 21 strikeouts and a 5.00 ERA.
