Martin Raps Jackson for 5 Hits
Tuesday, June 14th , 2022
Joe Martin was at the head of a Winchester hit parade at Creeps Ballpark. The first baseman went to the plate 5 times and came away with 5 hits, sparking the Mountaineers to a nice 17-7 victory over the Jackson Rebels.
"I told the guys in the dugout, just be thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere," the sweet-swinging Martin told reporters after the game. "Seems like it worked out well for us today."
Rebels skipper Brian Wenk said later that the club gave up "too much plate."
"Not the way we planned it," he said. "Every hitter in the league will rip you when you do that."
Joe Martin doubled in the 2nd, was hit by a pitch in the 4th, singled in the 5th, singled in the 5th, doubled in the 7th and singled in the 8th.
To date, Martin has collected 70 hits for a .435 average. He has posted 16 home runs, scored 41 runs and driven in 37 runs.
