Big Day for Bounds: Swats 5 Hits
Tuesday, July 2nd , 2024
After a 5-hit effort to lead Stockton's 14-2 victory over the Augusta Capitols, left fielder Pat Bounds told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day."
"It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the ABA Double A-level is really something special."
The 24-year-old player earned his accolades at Ballpark of Stockton with a spectacular 5-for-5 game against the Capitols.
"His swing is getting there," said Ragin Cajuns skipper Jeffrey Troke, who spoke glowingly of Bounds after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Pat did that to perfection."
Pat Bounds singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Steve Hill in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off Steve Hill in the 8th.
This year, Bounds has socked 100 hits in 308 at-bats for a .325 average with 25 home runs. He is getting on base at a .358 pace and his totals also include 68 RBIs and 61 runs scored.
