Johnson Bangs Out 5 Base Hits Thursday, June 20th , 2024 Speaking with reporters after a dominating hitting performance, Mike Johnson said his club's tilt with the Vail Tigercats "felt almost like batting practice." The 22-year-old left fielder went a remarkable 5-for-6 at the plate. "I saw the ball well and could just about hit it anywhere I wanted," he recalled later. However, his sensational day wasn't enough for the Hialeah Firecats, who were topped by the Tigercats, 6-5. "It's a good lesson for him, I guess," Firecats manager John Costa said. "Sometimes Mike is going to lose. But I would rather him go 5-for-6 and lose than go 0-for-6 and lose." Mike Johnson singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th, walked in the 7th, doubled in the 9th, flied out in the 11th and hit a two-run double in the 13th.
