Capitols Suffer One-Run Loss at Hamilton
|
In a low-scoring affair between the Hamilton Bulldogs and the Augusta Capitols, pitcher Mark Herrera was the difference between victory and defeat. The Hamilton right-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 2-1 Bulldogs win. Herrera yielded 1 run over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 1, and struck out 5. His record improves to 3-2. The Bulldogs win now puts them at 40-30.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Bulldogs had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the fifth, when designated hitter Zach Vest hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Paul Williamson and made the score 2-0, Bulldogs. Vest was 1 for 4.
"Every loss stings," said Augusta manager Chris Clarke. "This one is no exception."
