Tigercats Get Thrilling 6-5 Win
Though he had a stellar game, Mike Johnson could not prevent his team, the Hialeah Firecats, from losing, 6-5, to the Vail Tigercats. Johnson went 5-6 with 3 doubles, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. The win went to Brent Holt in relief, making him now 3-0. Dermot Howe took the loss for Hialeah. The Tigercats saw their win-loss record go to 45-25. At the same time, the Firecats fell to 26-44.

The Tigercats were down to their final out when second baseman Nick Taylor turned a 1-1 fastball from Jim Unknown into a 2-run single. The walk-off single made the Vail Grounds crowd go wild.

"Some of the guys in here work hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," Taylor told the Vail Gazette.
