Mesa Wins World Series Crown
Sunday, October 10th , 2021
A celebratory mood filled the air as the Mesa Razor Sharks closed out the season with a 10-1 victory over the London Tigers at Ballpark of Oklahoma City to capture the World Series, 4-3.
Giving the Tigers credit for a hard-fought series, Razor Sharks players said they believed throughout the postseason that their "destiny" was to be crowned ABA Double A champions.
"We felt like this was our year all season long," said left fielder Matt Leonard, who was named series MVP. "It was our destiny to win it and we did."
It was the 2nd in franchise history. During the Eastern AA Southen Division regular season Mesa put up a 89-51 record and finished second.
"They're the champions and they deserve it," said a dejected London manager Jose Torres. "We played good ball, they just played better than us."
