Ft. Wayne Earthquakes manager Du-sung Moon knew it was a gamble to give the start to a rookie. It was a good gamble to take.

Pitching in front of a hostile crowd, 21-year-old left-hander Kyle Julias silenced the host Chuluota Imperials at Imperials Ballpark today. The Earthquakes shut out the Imperials by a final score of 5-0, to give the Earthquakes a 3-1 advantage in the best-of-7 Division Series.

Julias was in the zone all game. He frustrated Chuluota hitters while giving the Earthquakes 5.2 innings of quality work. Julias threw 78 pitches, allowing 1 hit and getting 9 punchouts.

"We'll hit the hot tub in good spirits tonight," said Julias.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Imperials Ballpark in Chuluota.
