Cavalry Ross Smacks 5 Hits
Wednesday, June 29th , 2022
Today at Cavalry Ballpark, Steve Ross put on an impressive display.
The St. Louis Cavalry shortstop tagged Vermont pitching for 5 hits in 6 at-bats, but his teammates were unable to capitalize on the spree and lost the game to the Vermont Milkmen by the score of 9-7.
"The loss takes some of the joy out of it, but I'll take it," Ross said. "5-for-6 ain't bad in any league."
Despite the terrific performance, the Cavalry manager was unwilling to offer the shortstop much praise, saying the "whole roster" is held accountable for losses.
"Steve told me 'Coach, I had 5 hits' and I said 'Well that's great, but it looks like we needed one more from you,'" manager Leo Medina said.
Steve Ross singled in the 1st, hit a two-run double in the 2nd, flied out in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 5th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
On the year, Ross is hitting .324 with 36 hits, 3 home runs, 13 RBIs, .385 OBP and has scored 17 runs.
