McClaskey Sends Fremont Bats to Deep Freeze
Monday, September 30th , 2024
The Fremont Marshalls manager was philosophical in the clubhouse following a shutout loss to the Joilet Jesters. The Marshalls were overpowered by Joilet starter Nate McClaskey, who hurled his club to victory, 3-0.
"It was just one of those games -- shake it off and do better next time," Matt Blade said.
Over 9 innings, McClaskey blanked Fremont on 2 hits with 1 walk and 9 strikeouts.
"I kept them off balance. I could tell a lot of them were late on fastballs because they were fouling them off. Once you see that, it sets them up for other pitches," McClaskey said.
"I set them up, where if they chased one breaking ball, they were going to chase another one."
Checking out his stats for the season, McClaskey has racked up 12 wins and 7 losses in 22 starts, posted a 2.46 ERA, and struck out 110 batters in 150 innings.
