Fremont Advances to League Championship Series Monday, September 23rd , 2024 The thrill of victory and the agony of defeat were on full display tonight at Hedgehogs Park as the Division Series stretched to the final game. It was the Fremont Marshalls feeling the thrill of victory, with a 4-2 win over the Lubbock Stampede, who were feeling the devastation of coming up short in their quest to make the League Championship Series. "There's no way around it -- this sucks," said Lubbock manager William Maysonet. "Congratulations to Fremont, but I won't sugarcoat it, no one is happy about anything that transpired here tonight." Instrumental in the 4-3 series win was catcher Jim Kaufman, who was named MVP. He hit .333 with a .357 on-base percentage. He had 4 home runs, drove in 10 RBI and scored 5 runs. "We've got the most important stat of all and that's this final win -- that's the one that matters," he said. The Fremont Marshalls will play against the Joilet Jesters in the next round.
