Orono's Flood Takes 2025 Most Valuable Player Award Friday, October 24th , 2025 Gene Flood, the talented Orono center fielder, certainly made his name known among Stripes Conference hurlers this season. He hammered them for 138 hits, 28 doubles, 2 triples, 14 home runs, 67 RBIs and scored 54 times. That kind of output made him the choice for Stripes Conference Most Valuable Player Award for 2025. He received 10 first place votes out of a possible 24. Ty Beckford of the Hickory Crawdads finished second in voting with 6 first place votes, while Nate Sheridan of the Walnut Park Bobcats finished third with 6 first place votes.
