Marshals Win League Championship Series
Friday, October 9th , 2026
The thrill of victory and the agony of defeat were on full display tonight at Ballpark of Tacoma as the League Championship Series stretched to the final game.

It was the Baxter Springs Marshals feeling the thrill of victory, with a 6-4 win over the Hartford Matadors, who were feeling the devastation of coming up short in their quest to make the World Series.

"There's no way around it -- this sucks," said Hartford manager Jesse Heugly. "Congratulations to Baxter Springs, but I won't sugarcoat it, no one is happy about anything that transpired here tonight."

Instrumental in the 4-3 series win was first baseman Chris Malay, who was named MVP. He hit .357 with a .400 on-base percentage. He had 2 home runs, drove in 4 RBI and scored 4 runs.

"We've got the most important stat of all and that's this final win -- that's the one that matters," he said.

The Baxter Springs Marshals don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Orono Oaks - Quebec Aces series. That series is tied at 3 games apiece. The World Series schedule will be announced after the League Championship Series finishes.
