Matadors Advance to League Championship Series
Tuesday, September 29th , 2026
The Hartford Matadors took time to celebrate with the Hartford fans who stuck around after the game, following the team's Division Series triumph over the El Paso Chupacabras.
Members of the Matadors hung around chatting, high-fiving and taking pictures with the Hartford fans in attendance at Ballpark of Tacoma, long after the last pitch had been thrown in their 2-1 win to seal the series 4-2.
"We've got great fan support," said first baseman Craig Kelley. "Whether we're at home or on the road, the fans support us. So we wanted to show them how important that is to us. Some El Paso fans that were there even congratulated us on the win."
For the series, Kelley hit .375 with a .483 on-base percentage. He had 2 home runs, 4 RBI and scored 4 runs.
Things weren't so cordial on the Chupacabras side of things. Their clubhouse was closed to media after the game and all players and coaches quickly dressed and left the stadium after the end to their season.
The Hartford Matadors don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Baxter Springs Marshals - Montreal Royals series. Baxter Springs leads the series 3 games to 2. The League Championship Series schedule will be announced after the Division Series finishes.
