Orono Moves on to League Championship Series
Monday, September 28th , 2026
The Orono Oaks didn't hold back their excitement after beating the Westwood Bruins in the Division Series tonight.
Members of the team rushed onto the field and celebrated joyously when the victory became official, with a 5-1 win moving the club on to the League Championship Series, clinching a 4-1 series win in front of the Jackie Robinson Stadium crowd.
"This isn't the big one, but of course we need to get through this before we can win a World Series, so it's an important step," said John Cotton as he took a break from celebrating. "Our guys are happy and excited to be moving on."
Cotton was named series MVP, as he hit .500 with a .524 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, drove in 4 RBI and scored 2 runs.
On the other side of the diamond, there was desolation. Many members of the Bruins sat stone-faced in their dugouts, simply watching Orono celebrate.
The Orono Oaks don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Quebec Aces - Hickory Crawdads series. Quebec leads the series 3 games to 2. The League Championship Series schedule will be announced after the Division Series finishes.
