League Gets Last Word, Suspends Garcia 2 Games
Monday, July 29th , 2024
The league office has taken action against Denver center fielder Francisco Garcia for inappropriate action and aggressive conduct in the Pilots game against the Spokane Selects. He has been issued a 2-game suspension.
Garcia was ejected from the game yesterday after arguing a called third strike. He first argued with the plate umpire. Then Garcia moved up the first-base line, waving his fists at the umpire as the dispute continued. As he left the field, he also argued with the crew chief, who was umpiring at third base. His manager finally convinced him to leave the field as the umpires were threatening to forfeit the game.
This season, Garcia has hit at a .216 clip with 29 RBIs, 11 home runs and 41 runs scored. He has played in 83 games.
