Hickory Takes Division Series
Tuesday, September 27th , 2022
The Division Series may not have lived up to the expectation that it would be a dogfight that would go the distance. The Hickory Crawdads, however, are not complaining.
The Crawdads were plenty happy to have wrapped up the series early and to have knocked out the New Rochelle Purple Wave to advance to the League Championship Series.
Hickory won the final game by a 10-6 count at Crawdad Park and the series 4-2.
Crawdads right fielder Ricardo Herrera was named series MVP, as he hit .375 with a .400 on-base percentage. He added 1 home runs, drove in 4 RBI and scored 3 runs.
"It's not going to be the last time New Rochelle makes it to the playoffs, so it's sure a nice feeling to put them out this year," Herrera said. "We just need to keep this going and take it day by day."
The Hickory Crawdads will play against the Randolph Prairie Thunder in the next round. Randolph won their series against the Spokane Selects 4 games to 2. The League Championship Series schedule will be announced after the Division Series finishes.
