Hickory Manager Sanchez Named Top Skipper in StC Wednesday, October 27th , 2021 Ray Sanchez celebrated a successful season with the Hickory Crawdads by hosting team officials and select media at a Hickory area first-class eatery. But when he first came to town, the 2021 Stripes Conference Manager of the Year was met with a good measure of skepticism. "Very few people believed in our ballclub when I got here. It just goes to show you that a bunch of talented ballplayers playing together can make any old manager a genius," a modest Sanchez joked, not fully recognizing his own stature in the baseball community. However, baseball journalists duly noted his managerial skill as he skippered the Crawdads to a 90-54 record this year and a first place finish in the Stripes Conference West Division. |
